Office building

Here, the architect's task was to plan an office building which would be oriented to the regional traditions and landscape characteristics of the Oberpfalz without imitating its historical building style. In this manner, the elevated ground level was cladded with grey granite panels obtained from nearby quarries. The slightly tapered shape and upward directed facade of the first floor emphasises the solid architectural characteristics of the old barns and monasteries that can be found in this region. The colour of the granite corresponds with the silver-grey wood construction of the upper floor which features a simple design. Even the gable roof is covered with timber boards. All exterior components are made of larch wood, as is the structure which is constructed of larch gluelam. Oiled oak was used for floors, ceilings (designed as cooling ceilings) and all interior furniture and installations. On the upper floor, large offices and meeting rooms are grouped around a generous courtyard that is lit from above and extends over two floors, while the cantine, cafe and recreational rooms are located on the ground level.
