Cloef Atrium

Visitor and Conference Centre

The Visitor and Conference Centre of the resort town Orscholz is located at the edge of the forested area where Germany, Luxembourg and France meet, and close to the Cloef outlook with its famous view of the loop of the river Saar. The building features extraordinary architecture, reminiscent of the design of classical resort buildings with its halls of columns. Sixty-four gluelam round supports with a diameter of 45cm support gluelam trusses, which in turn carry the solid wood roof components. The exterior and interior walls are also constructed of such components while the ceilings consists of solid Brettstapel construction. The interplay of wood and glass achieves a unique connection between building and nature. The building, which has a half-circle shape and consists of 530m² of events and exhibition rooms, resort administration, bistro and restaurant, presents an open and inviting atmosphere that conveys a cheerful ambience.
