GERMANTIMBER represented the German forest and timber industry at the International Builders Show (IBS) 2009, held from the 20th to the 23rd of January in Las Vegas. With some 1,500 exhibitors and 61,200 visitors, the IBS is the largest building trade show in the US and one of the largest building trade exhibitions world-wide. Its emphasis is residential building. At the IBS, GERMANTIMBER presented modern timber products raised using sustainable forestry and innovative timber building solutions. Some 340 conversations took place at the GERMANTIMBER stand. These talks fostered dialogue with partners in the US. Current trends in the US towards environmentally-sustainable and climate-friendly building indicate that there is still a large potential market for superior softwood and hardwood products despite the strains currently prevalent within the building market in the US.
